The Rio Grande Down Syndrome Network (RGDSN) was founded to promote friendships and information sharing among families whose lives have been touched by Down syndrome.
Through networking opportunities and friendships, we proactively address issues of advocacy, accessibility and public awareness in educational, legal and political arenas.
The network seeks to promote the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome and their families by fostering understanding, communication and a vision for the future.
October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. What do you have planned? Here are a few ideas from years past.
*Ask to show a short video during the announcements at your child’s elementary school and share the message, “We’re More Alike Than Different”.
*Use this opportunity to write a brief article or letter to the editor of your local newspaper about your child’s accomplishments.
*Ask to speak about Down syndrome at a civic club’s meeting. Provide information about all the possibilities today for people with Down syndrome.
*Donate a great book about Down syndrome to your media center.
